Creating Legacies August/September Newsletter
Hello everybody out there. I hope you all are having a great day. In this newsletter I’ll be giving information on the upcoming events that Creating Legacies charity organization will be a part of. I’ll also be giving you a running tally of people helped by the Creating Legacies food pantry and the number of students being given music Lessons as part of our Legacy Of Music mentorship program.
In August we gave out school supplies to children in need in the area. This year we were able to help 180 children in total with supplies for the upcoming school year. For anyone that wants to help we accept school supplies, cash donations, and we have a digital way to take donations on our website. If you come into the charity directly we have a square reader to allow us to take card donations.
Saturday October 28th in Garnett, Kansas we will have a booth set up for Zombie Walk 2023. It’s free to the public with a bunch of vendors of all kinds. Should be a really good time if you can make it out. All the information is on Facebook. Look up the event Garnett Zombie Walk: Part II for all the details.
This year instead of making a Thanksgiving basket we have decide to focus our efforts on obtaining toys and food for Christmas baskets. More information on this will be provided soon. We are still in the planning stages and haven’t ironed out all the details. We will post more information on our website and on Facebook when it becomes available.
We still have free lessons being given at the Creating Legacies office. The instruments that we can teach are guitar, bass, drums and piano. The piano is done mostly through books and is a learn at your own pace lesson plan. We are also working on trying to get a rental program going for students in Pittsburg Middle School and Pittsburg High School who want to join the school band but can’t afford the instruments. More information will be provided as soon as we get it.
Here are the numbers for the people helped for the month of July and August 2023 and the number of students getting lessons through the Legacy Of Music. The Legacy Of Music mentorship program has 2 students now taking lessons for drums and guitar. In the month of July and August, Creating Legacies helped 259 people providing both food and hygiene products.
